Summer Lake Culture in Wisconsin

Ah, the beach. Nothing says “summer” quite like a nice hot day on the beach with a cooling dip in the water. If you are like most people, you probably don’t think of “beach” when you hear the word “Wisconsin.” And that is certainly understandable. After all, with all the snow and cold we get here during the winter, it’s no wonder those who aren’t from the area don’t think of hot days next to the lake when they think of our state.

But for those unfamiliar with the area, you may be surprised to hear that Wisconsin has a very strong beach and lake culture during the warm summer months. Boasting over 15,000 lakes (yes, 15,000!), Wisconsinites and frequent vacationers to our state love spending time on the lake and at the beach. Whether it’s doing something calm like watching the sunset on a lake while drifting on a pontoon boat or doing something more adventurous like being pulled behind a jet ski on a tube, Wisconsinites and its visitors love the lake.

If you are visiting us in our great state this summer, your trip won’t be complete without some time on the lake or at the beach. If your kids are budding sportsmen and women, take them fishing. If you want to sit back and relax, take a river cruise or rent a party boat to take out on Lake Michigan. No matter what your cup of tea, spend some time on the water this summer while you’re here.

And finally, to make sure overnight accommodations are the least of your concerns, book a stay with us at Baymont Inn & Suites in Mequon. After a long day on the lake or at the beach, there’s nothing like falling into a clean, comfortable bed for a quiet night’s sleep.
