If you’re visiting the southeastern Wisconsin and not familiar with the area, you might be wondering what kind of things there are to do around here for fun. The good news is that there is a lot to do here, and we’ll certainly continue to write about the topic in the future and take a closer look at some specific places and events. However, in this post, we’d like to exclusively look at great things to do for families with children.
Traveling with children can be challenging, and often times throwing some fun, kid-friendly items on your itinerary can help make the trip go smoother and give the kids something to look forward to. Fortunately, Milwaukee has plenty to do for those traveling with kids. Let’s look at a few.
Betty Brinn Children’s Museum
The Betty Brinn Museum is a local favorite. Aimed at children ten and younger, this museum is extremely focused on play while remaining educational. This is a fun museum, plain and simple. While your kids will learn, they will first and foremost have fun while doing it. This is not some boring, “no-touching-anything” museum.
The Milwaukee County Zoo
Milwaukee has a fantastic and affordable zoo. If you’re visiting anytime spring through fall, the weather is usually favorable enough to make a great day out of seeing the animals and walking around this neatly-kept, family-friendly park.
The Mitchell Conservatory (Domes)
Milwaukee’s famous Mitchell Domes are three giant, climate-controlled domes. Each dome has a different climate, and they are filled with plants and birds native to each climate. There is a dessert climate dome, a tropical climate dome, and a dome that has a rotating display of beautiful flowers. The Domes are a great way to “see the world” in one afternoon.
While there are many more family-friendly things to do in Milwaukee, these are just a few of our favorites. When you stay with us at Baymont Inn & Suites in Mequon, just ask us, and we’ll be happy to tell you about our city!
